Teamspeak Server - Voice
At Hovercontrol we use Teamspeak, a popular voice-over-IP chat client for most of our voice communications needs. We operate our own teamspeak server on which we conduct our training and online flight activities.
It is highly recommended that you get teamspeak working before anything else. As once you can talk to other members, other problems become much easier to solve.
You will need the Teamspeak Client software in order to connect to our server. You can get it Here.
(Download TeamSpeak 2 Client (RC2))
You will also need to be a registered member of Hovercontrol in good standing. Your registration may take up to 24 hours to be active on the teamspeak server. The teamspeak server will expect you to use your Hovercontrol message forum username and password in order to connect.
After downloading the Teamspeak Client software, you will need to install it. After the client software is installed you should use Settings->Sound Input/Output menu option to set a "Push to Talk" key, and try out the the "Activate Local Test Mode". This will help you make sure that your headphones and microphone are working properly.
Once you are able to hear yourself using the local test mode, you can attempt to join the Hovercontrol teamspeak server. You can find information on the location of the Hovercontrol teamspeak server at our Multi-User Flight Environment webpage. You will need to log into this webpage with your message forum username and password before you can see any of the Voice Server details. Once you are logged in, you will be presented with information about the server address for our teamspeak server. You should write this information down. You will need it when setting up an entry for Hovercontrol in your teamspeak client software.
You will be using the Connection->Connect menu option in the teamspeak client software in order to connect to Hovercontrol's teamspeak server. You will need the server address information mentioned above, as well as your message forum username and password. You can find additional information on setting up a teamspeak server connection at Teamspeak's Connecting to a Teamspeak Server Tutorial Page.
