Hey Jen.

Welcome to the forum!

I would recommend you get X-Plane 11 and the DreamFoil S300. It's a great, simple helicopter with very good physics and flight model.

I'm sorry, I should have mentioned that I only have fs2004.

There's not a whole lot of choice there, I'm afraid. I think most of us used the Bell 206.

Perhaps someone else could know of a better one but the 206 should treat you well :)

Good to see you joined Jenny!
The AS-350 B3 on our VA site is a good one to train with and it also has floats!

Hi Jen65,
Another nice helicopter to start out on is the McDonnell Douglas MD500E by the Nemeth Brothers and Zoltan Batki, available for FS9 in the Hovercontrol Downloads < HERE >

Have fun
Gman

the fs2004 dodo might throw you in the deep end however its worth a look

the fs2004 206 was the hovertcontol trainer when it was the current sim for online flight lessons and evals

So am I to assume that I can't train here because I only have fs2004?

Jen, every article or lesson you'll find here will adapt to FS2004 without any issues so you can use the sim for your training.

Do keep in mind that, nowadays, there are better, more realistic simulators on the market that do a better job. Physics in FS2004 (or FSX/P3D) are not that great but you will still be able to learn the basics.

No, sorry I think you misread what I was explaining

for fs2004 the best trainer you could use would be the B206, it was the helo of choice when FS2004 was the current sim, just because you use FS2004 it doesnt mean your not welcomed, many people here still use fs2004 and will do so for a long time

your are at somewhat of an advantage as Hovercontrol hosts more FS2004 freeware helos to download than FSX or P3D

dont be put off by fsx p3d or xplane users, use the sim that works for you and have fun despite what people tell you

Hi Jen65,
Glad it's working for you, enjoy!
I originally had an issue with the cockpit glass being too dark, and was fortunate to have Tamas Nemeth send me a no-tint model, and I have made a few changes to the sounds over the years, but it is still working like a million bucks in FSX-SE.

Cheers
Gman
