We support customized signatures and avatars used by our members.  It can add a nice touch of individuality to an otherwise impersonal setting.  However, we have some file size and image dimension limits.  Signature images that do not fall within the limits will be removed and replaced with a short text reminder.  These limits apply to all forum sigs and avatars regardless of where they are hosted. (ie. at HC or at your own webspace).

Images should be appropriate for a wide audience of members made up of both genders, and all ages.  We reserve the right to remove any image, for any reason, whatsoever.  With or without advanced warning.

Signatures:
1 image maximum
500 pixels wide maximum
100 pixels tall maximum
35k File size maximum

Avatars:
Must be 64x64 pixels
15k file size maximum

Additional Rules:
1.  Do not use dynamically generated signatures loaded from other sites.  Hosting your images at other sites is fine as long as they are basic image files, but we can't allow dynamically generated data-driven signatures hosted from other servers.

We will also host your images for use as  your personal avatar and/or signature.  Please see the Hovercontrol FAQ for information on how to upload these images.

To get a picture in your signature you use HTML code. You use the same things as in the replying to a post thing. Just get a host for your pic (HC will do it) and put the URl for it between the "[IMG]" tags. Then it should work.

[IMG]Put URL between here![\IMG]

1. In my control panel/personal info/edit profile- go to signature box and paste link to photo there then HC will approve it?

2. If i found a pic that i want for my signature but its to big how do i make it smaller.

You can put a link of a Pic between
Code Sample

tags, or press the image button in a post put the url down and copy/paste it to your sig box.
that way it will show up as a pic.
as far as resizing cutting it down you could use any grapical program, eg. photoshop, paint, paintshop pro. or specal programs like this one Irfanview. must upload it to the internet again since you cant show it from your pc. you could upload upload it to hovercontrol

??? Well the pic size came up but the combined url added to the other advice still does not work. It must be something simple that I'm doing wrong.

:D Laurie and Press thanks for helping.  Laurie, I took the same url on your advice and copied it to sig.  It worked and was the same one that did not work before. Maybe a temporary hitch in system.  I appreciate you both taking time out to help a newbie.
