Great to see things are still happening!

I stopped  in here to see if I missed anything and I realized that I don't even  have FSX on my system anymore.  It also occurred to me that in 2013 I started  my career as a professional helicopter pilot and  am now sitting at 3000 hours and working as an EMS pilot.

This isn't meant as a criticism at all... I'm just kind of in awe of how the time has flown by.

Hate to tell you this but it only speeds up as you get older.  I'm only hoping I get to fly the dodo again before I'm gone lol

I can just confirm all of this! Getting older and older, time passes by quicker and quicker ... still would like to have a chance to fly the new Dodosim 206!

Mark's started delivering to me new HD graphics for the 2D panels, so I'm integrating them.  Whilst I'm waiting on the next batch I'm also adding new features to keep busy.  Last night I got a nice little attitude hold SAS working.  Hoping to expand it to a fully-featured auto-pilot before it's done.

I made a little detour to make some autopilot/SAS graphics so that Simon has a nice interface to go with his development work.

A lot of people have been asking for a good autopilot so this should be a very popular addition.

I'm juggling around cockpit space -

Everybody flies in a different way so we are trying to include as many instruments as possible and not leave anybody out.

This makes it a bit over-equipped compared to most 206s I've seen and  space is getting tight.

Any IFR guys out there that use the DME?

In these GPS days not really. For reference only... perhaps for ILS DME approaches. What we use however, is the optional engine "AUTO RELIGHT" system. It is quite widespread among Jetrangers. Really very simple sytem, a single switch and a light only. I think, it would be quite easy to model (??), only the indicator light logic has to be programmed properly. ( I'm willing to provide docs on this.)
Sorry guys for this, simply could not resist... just gave it a try.
...and yes, it requires very small panel space.

Cheers

An auto-delight would be very simple to code, but we'd need a reason as to why it would be useful.  Currently you can only flame out if you set the timer in order to do an unexpected auto.  Having a relight would make that redundant.  Perhaps if I added a flame out due to prolonged compressor stall?  I'd need some detailed parameters on how that would occur though.

Hi Simon,

I did not think of a deeper functionality of the auto relight, just the proper sequence of switch/light indication.
..and to increase a bit your panel space problem.:-)

Hi Simon and Mark,
should you need a tester or a painter, I'd love to give you a hand!

You can ask Tamas from ND, I can be quite meticulous with the testing, should that be required

Cheers,
Marius from EDRM-Repaints.com

Are you planning to support the Flight1 GTN and GNS units? And maybe even the Flight1 G500?

It would be cool to have modern avionics in the cockpit :)

Greetings
Doug

That wouldn't be possible as there'd be no way of getting our own custom parameters into them.

Hi Simon,

thanks for your reply!

What kind of custom parameters do you need to get into a normal GPS? Like in the real world the Flight1 GTN and GNS units are stand-alone devices and one can't modify their software. The only connection between the GPS and the aircraft's system is the battery and the avionics bus. Even after thinking about it for a while, I have no clue what other custom parameters one would need to share with the GPS. I mean the Flight1 GNS and GTN units work fine with all other complex P3Dv4 addons like the ones from A2A or PMDG.

Again, having a modern GPS in the VC would be a huge benefit when doing cross-country flights. A look on the GPS is much quicker than fiddling around with paper charts. Especially in a helicopter :)
