The DodoSim 206 FSX does not require FSUIPC to operate.  All the switch functions can be mapped using standard and non-standard key assignments as detailed within the manual.  However, most of these are toggle functions and therefore not ideal for use in hardware cockpits where specific On/Off or Fwd/Both/Off (as in landing lights) switch commands are needed.

Recent versions of FSUIPC4 for FSX offers a useful feature which the 206 (v1.054) makes use of, giving pit builders a whole host of new potential event bindings.  Here's how to use them:

1) Create a text file in notepad within the 'Flight Simulator X/Modules/' folder alongside the FSUIPC4.dll called 'DodoSim206FSX.evt'

2) Put the following text within the file:

Code Sample

[Events]
1=DODOSIM206FSX.ELECT_FUEL_PUMP1_SET
2=DODOSIM206FSX.ELECT_FUEL_PUMP2_SET
3=DODOSIM206FSX.WARNING_HORN_CB_SET
4=DODOSIM206FSX.NAV_LIGHTS_SET
5=DODOSIM206FSX.DIFFICULTY_LEVEL_SET
6=DODOSIM206FSX.DIFFICULTY_LEVEL_INC
7=DODOSIM206FSX.DIFFICULTY_LEVEL_DEC
8=DODOSIM206FSX.HEAT_VENT_SET
9=DODOSIM206FSX.GENERATOR_FIELD_CB_SET
10=DODOSIM206FSX.GENERATOR_RESET_CB_SET
11=DODOSIM206FSX.DIR_GYRO_SET
12=DODOSIM206FSX.MASTER_BATTERY_SET
13=DODOSIM206FSX.GENERATOR_SWITCH_SET
14=DODOSIM206FSX.ANNUNCIATOR_TEST_SET
15=DODOSIM206FSX.WARNING_MUTE_SET
16=DODOSIM206FSX.TURBINE_OVER_TEMP_TEST_SET
17=DODOSIM206FSX.GPS_DRIVES_NAV1_SET
18=DODOSIM206FSX.FUEL_VALVE_SET
19=DODOSIM206FSX.CAUTION_LIGHT_SWITCH_SET
20=DODOSIM206FSX.ANTI_ICE_SWITCH_SET
21=DODOSIM206FSX.HYDRAULICS_SWITCH_SET
22=DODOSIM206FSX.IDLE_RELEASE_SET
23=DODOSIM206FSX.TAXI_LIGHT_SWITCH_SET
24=DODOSIM206FSX.TAXI_LIGHT_SWITCH_OFF
25=DODOSIM206FSX.TAXI_LIGHT_SWITCH_ON

3) Open the FSUIPC.ini configuration file and look for a section called [Events].  If it isn't there, create one and enter the following data:

Code Sample

[EventFiles]
0=DodoSim206FSX

4) Restart FSX and open the FSUIPC dialog. Press a button to set an event assignment as normal, and look at the event selection list.  You'll notice a new set of bindings at the top, preceded by a : character, i.e.:

Code Sample

:DODOSIM206FSX.ELECT_FUEL_PUMP1_SET
:DODOSIM206FSX.ELECT_FUEL_PUMP2_SET
:DODOSIM206FSX.WARNING_HORN_CB_SET
:DODOSIM206FSX.NAV_LIGHTS_SET
..etc..

5) When mapping a button to these functions, they require a parameter value.  As a rule, to set a switch off, use parameter 0, to set it on use 1.  Multi-position switches, such as the five position difficulty switch use parameters in the range 0-4, etc.

It is probably advisable to use these settings where provided rather than default FS events because they will get trapped first by the Dodo and ensure correct behaviour.

And there you have it.

I'm afraid I don't know anythign about GO Flight products, so I can't answer that.  These events are custom SimConnect events, so anything that can be user configured to generate them will work, but I do not know how you assign events with Go Flight products.  If they use their own software then probably not.  Pete Dowson only put this facility in to FSUIPC after I pointed out how useful it would be to complex aircraft builders, and it was a facility he hadn't realised was even possible at the time.

I have followed the instructions about creating the event file for FSUIPC to use but I am not seeing any of the Dodosim key bindings as on option in FSUIPC.

Here is the version of the software I have installed:

FSX XDeluxe 10.0.61637.0 (FSX-XPack.20070926-1421)

FSUIPC4 4.60a  (March 4 2010)

Dodosim206 V1.05(Build 07-04-10/1) purchased from Flight1

Any ideas as to what I need to do to get this to work.

Thanks

Terry

Update the 206 to v1.054 from the link I put in another sticky thread and get the latest FSUIPC from within Pete Dowson's support forum, not the main SimMarket download.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for your prompt response.

I am a little confused about updating Dodosim to version 1.054.

I see a thread you posted on 3/25/11 about the update.  Does this apply to Dodosim 206 purchased from Flight1.  The only update I see on Flight1 for the Dodosim 206 is for the display panels.

I see another thread on 7/1/10 that said if I have the Flight1 version the update must come from Flight1, but I don't see an update on Flight1 site.

Do you know if I can use the update you mentioned or do I need to get it from Flight1?

Thanks Terry

I purchased my Dodo at Flight1 and used the update in the mentioned thread.... No issues.  :)

Terry, the Flight1 update is the one you want. It updates the .gau file which contains all the code.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.

I updated Dodosim to version 1.054 using the update from Dodosim and updated FSUIPC4 to version 4.70.

All the events appear now when setting switch assignments in FSUIPC.

My confusion with Flight1 site is that it describes the Dodosim Update as a Gauge update and does not mention anything about this being the update to version 1.054.

Terry

Hi Simon,

So am I having issues that I may not be aware of by using the update here?  ???

Thanks,
LouP  :cool:

No Lou,
The update for the 206 purchased direct from DodoSim contains all cumulative updates from v1.00 to v1.054.  This includes sounds, gauge file and aircraft.cfg mods.

The original Flight1 release was v1.053 (I think) and the only update since was to the DodoSimFSX206.gau file, which I provided to Flight1 for their customers.  The only difference in that to the one in our installer is changes to the credits to add the German translation info.  And they have a German gauge file also (so all dialog and tooltip text is German).

So updating the Flight1 release with our installer instead of just applying their .gau file update doesn't make a difference really.

I downloaded the update to 1.054. executed and run as administrator. Whole thing completes and say the files has been succesfully added.
However in menu:addon>dodosim 206 FSX>About section it still list it as build 1.03  (build 23/05/09/1)

I can see files has been added as I had to correct aircraft.cfg files with the backup files to add back custom paints that is not in the new files.

Any ideas how to get it v1.054

It could be that for some reason Windows is not allowing the dll (.gau) file to be overwritten.  If you PM me your email address I'll send you the separate .gau file so you can just drag and drop it in and overwrite the old version.

Hi Simon,
the mapping worked great with one exception. The FWD fuel boost CB turns off the aft breaker. I've put it back to the concorde nose visor and its fine (Leaving the AFT breaker with the new mapping). I cleared the events associated with the switches before putting in the new mappings. I can't see any conflicts in FS switch assignments or in FSUICP.
Any thouhgts were this might be coming from?

I see you've included the Heat Vent switch in the mappings list, but its not physically on the Dodo Panel. Whats up with that?
Cheers,
Stuart   :)

Just to help out, the fore and aft fuel pumps are reversed and the warning horn doesn't work so you can leave it at tailwheel lock. :cool:

3) Open the FSUIPC.ini configuration file and look for a section called [Events].  If it isn't there, create one and enter the following data:

Code Sample

[EventFiles]
0=DodoSim206FSX

Would you please clarify this for me?  I do not have an  [Events] in the .ini file; should I then create [Events] or [EventFiles] or both, and then insert the code for the Dodo?

Thank you.

It just means, since you do not already have an [Events] category already listed in your FSUIPC.ini,  you need to create your own.

[EventFiles]
0=DodoSim206FSX

Just place the above text in your FSUIPC.ini file.

That's all you need in the FSUIPC.ini.

The file folder is called Events
The entry inside the folder is  EventFiles
