hi everybody,

please do not say, or think, I am popping up just because I have a question... Real life has become very tough and my time is continuosly absorbed by job and family :-)
I am teaching Logistics and Science of Navigation in a high school here in Italy and I managed to set up a flight simulation laboratory using fsx. We have 18 pc connected together in a lan and to the internet, in order to simulate both pilot and ATC roles.
The hardware is roughly listed hereafter:

dual core micro, 3.10 GHz
intel motherboard with graphic chip
4 GB ram
windows 7 64 bit
ordinary hard disk.

We experienced a decent performance with this configuration but often and often, the image is occupied by polygons or vertical stips and other graphic inefficiencies. We thought to add a graphic card, choosing NVIDIA 730 something (I could be more precise on monday).
the performance is now a bit better but not as better as we expected.
Next steps have been the updating of the driver, then  the adding 4 GB RAM.
Again, not that much inprovements: less stuttering and more fluidity but now and then the performance get lower depending on settings (of course I started with lower scenery settings and increase them), the scenery chosen and the hour, but my feeling it that a pc like this should be more fluid even with high scenery settings, leaving the more resource-eater settings like traffic, low.
My hypothesis is that fsx could not be fully compatible with win 7 64 bit so my next attempt will be to install win 7 32 bit and run fsx on the pc, with the same hardware configuration.
I will be grateful to read your comments, if you wish to help me to analyse and fix this situation

Hello everybody,

let me share with you an interesting development of this issue: after many attempts to fix this problem -including a downgrade toward win 7 32 bit giving no appreciable result- I have experienced a dramatic improvement by choosing 1920x1080x16 instead 1920x1080x32 in the graphic settings window (resolution drop down menu) together with the frame rate set to 20.
This has magically eliminated the stuttering and made the simulation more  fluid than ever!!
cheers
Nanai

Thanks for letting us know Nanai, I might have to try this tomorrow myself.

Cheers
