Because I have seen the Dodo idea grow from its infancy, I was not expecting such a massive step up in this latest version.  What I thought would be a list of general improvements on your existing features, turned out be a package that raises the bar across the board.

When I fly, and think about this package, I don't know what I am more pleased with.  The individual features that are each well researched and accurate to the bone, or the fact that they all work together smoothly, and realistically, as they should.  From my own experience, I know that nailing a single feature or behavior is one thing, but to get them all to come together nicely without impacting one another is where the real work lies.  The Dodo makes this appear effortless.  All I can say, is that I know that is not the case.  Making it look this easy will probably haunt you! lol, but I can appreciate just how difficult that must have been (and the hours involved for everyone).

You guys should be proud of this work, it is a major step forward.  In my opinion, it is the most sophisticated and accurate depiction of a popular helicopter that can be attained for Microsoft Flight Simulator.  It speaks volumes for your talents and attention to detail, but it also speaks volumes for the helicopter flight simulation community when it comes to showing what this side of the house has to offer.

If I was introducing an experienced pilot to PC-based helicopter flight simulation, and I only had one chance to make a strong impression on them,  I would show them the Dodosim 206.

Congratulations guys.  Job well done.

One thing I have to toss in here Jordan. If it wasn't for the fertile ground that you created here at HC. A place where we can get together and pool the diverse talents that lead to such advancements there wouldn't be a Dodo. Thank you sir.

Hi Everyone,

I am new here but just had to say how much I love this helo, [ having wanted to be a real helo pilot all my life (although I do have a PPL fixedwing licence) ]
Since discovering this dodo thing only a few short weeks ago, I believe Flight Simulation [helicopters] has been elevated to a new level and has finally reached a point that I envisionaged, many years ago when the first helo was released in MS FS.
Thank you guys for what is obviously an incredible effort and I for one do not underestimate the time , trouble and perserverance it took to complete this task.
I probably shouldn't say it but I would have definately paid a lot more for this product.
If it's any consolation, for me the latest patch installed effortessly and I have not experienced any problems thus far.I just enjoy flying this thing so much. It's even inspired me to purhase some ch pro pedals that I've always wanted. Not sure that's a wise move re some of the install problems.
All I can say is keep up the good work and I look forward to purchasing your new products in the future.

I have just been struggling to fly two payware helicopters that I have recently acquired from simmarket both from respected developers and i was just fed up by the hopelessly unrealistic behaviour of both of them. Coming back to the dodo after a 3 month gap, is such a treat. Once again Gents, you have made THE helicopter. The REAL helicopter simulation. Looking forward to the HUEY!!!

I have to say I agree the ADV 206 DODO is the best I have seen and experienced.

I never had the oppertity to fly a real bird but have lots of seat time in the 206.

Since the first time I started the DODO and then lifted off I have been impressed. It makes me wish I would of purchased it earlier but like I always say better late then never.

Looking forward to the heuy if it even half as good as the 206 I will be impressed.

Keep up the great work.

I couldn't agree more with Jordan. I recently made some changes to my existing hamster powered old PC (thanks again Chris and Gerry!!) which has allowed me to start flying online with moderate detail levels after quite some time not being able to do so at all.

I decided to do some testing one night to determine how high I could have my settings and still have the frames high enough to make the flight enjoyable. The new Dodosim was the machine I chose to fly. The funny thing is I got so immersed performing some diffrent types of autorotations I ended up flying for 2 or 3 hours and it felt like 20 minutes.

That is extremely rare for me and it really made me think about just how good this aircraft is. This Dodosim is simply the finest helicopter I have ever flown on flightsim. Thank you Steve and Mark for making the Dodosim, it is an absolute pleasure and a treat to fly.

The Dodo is the kind of thing I now spend my entire work day looking forward to, and in a strange way I'm at my happiest when I get home, my door gets closed and I hit the starter button on the Dodo. I have perma-grin from the minute I hit that starter until about 15 minutes after I press the idle release and close the throttle.

Happy Easter to you both and thanks for such a great aircraft.

Hi Guys.... Just thought I'd put my two cents in here.

After a new build on the old computer, I purchased your FSX Bell a few days ago.  Let me echo the praise everyone else here has given.

After spending the better part of my 27 years in the Marine Corps as a Helo Avionics type... I'm TOTALLY impressed with the fine work you've done.  I can't begin to tell you how many hours I have riding & working in helicopters...(Was a huey guy by trade but have worked & gone and/or taught school for CH-53's, CH-46's, UH-1N's, VH-1N's, VH-3D's)

The sounds etc., all but bring back some VERY happy times for me.  All I need now is a little hydraluic fluid & smells and I'll be young again. (smile)

Being an old Huey Avionics guy... I'm looking forward to your next release with great anticipation!  Again... Many Thanks and Great Job!!

BTW.... if you ever make an "N" model huey.... I spent a number of years on Presidential Support (HMX-1, Carter & Regan Years) and have fliers/info. for the Presidential VH-1N before they changed to the VH-60.  I sure would love to see that Huey in FSX....... it sure was a class ride. (Smile)

Many best wishes.... Outstanding Job.

I'm a Helicopter Pilot Student right now and have been waiting months and months for my medical.  This bird is the only thing keeping me sane.  I can now play FSX and actually feel like this simulator is really benefiting my knowledge and handling of helicopters.  Wedging into my head the coordination between all controls (add left rudder add collective to compensate etc.)

The work into this package makes it understandable why it can cost more than FSX itself.  Now FSX just seems to be a terrain generator, and your dodo is the core physics.  If it wasn't for Dodo, i would still be flaring to no avail in my r22 with the constant bleed of rotor rpm, and a governor that cant keep my throttle happy.  You really have filled in what helicopters deserve.

So thank you so much for staying with what you love because its giving us all a chance to as well.

I figure I'll chip in a bit too...
I actually spent the last year (real life) flight testing and modeling various platforms.  I decided to buy Dodosim just out of curiosity to see how good the commercial FSX helicopter models are.  I read alot of the articles on the board and was very impressed with the community, especially the dedication to graphic detail.  On a development basis, I would like to know how you were able to tweak the FSX 206 to get the Dodosim 206.  Did you guys buy a data package/model from a flight testing group, or tweak the model based on real-206 pilot inputs?  I haven't done any FSX work, but if I find the time I'll take a look inside.  I've got some 206 time, so it will be interesting to see how things match.  Even FAA Level D helo sims are a bit of a poop shoot when it comes to model-data matching.

Cheers and keep up the good work

Thanks guys.

To answer the develolpment question, first of all we looked at the blatant problems that the FS series has and rented a Jetranger (tough job but somebody has to do it). After that we used both data and input from pilots (+ instructors, aircaft technicians and some trusted testers. People were kind enough to take stopwatches/note pads up and answer our strange questions).

We scoured all the data, reference books and flight reports we could get our hands on.

Hi,

I just wanted to mention that I am appreciating this package more and more as time goes on and to say thanks for all your effort on this one.

Does anyone know where you can purchase the Huey besides at the Dodo site?  I think the exchange rate thing is making it much more expensive there.

Thanks again,
LouP

Well we are all waiting for it, but I'm glad guys take their time with huey. I would rather wait longer and get something comparable to 206 than get it tommorow and buy unfinished product.

Guys,

I've checked the dates for this topic, and it has been a while since the last post. I would like to register, as I'm a new pilot to this community, that newcomers, that have the pleasure to get your chopper (after due research around the forums) still get the best thing out there for the FSX. It's nothing short of pure joy flying the 206, I was really glad the checkride can be done on it, instead of the default bell, because I could not imagine myself parting with it so I can practice the maneuvers for the test. It's been a while, yes, but still, a work of art...

best regards,

Nelson
